Celebrate the 4th of July and Vintage Autos

July 4, 2020 | 3:30 pm - 6:00 pm

Outdoors, in the back yard of the AMCC, classic car buff David “Scotty” Greenberger will be hosting a Q&A on classic cars.

He’s parking some of his classic vehicles along Sheridan Avenue for display. And anyone else who owns a classic or unusual car is welcome to park there, too. One of the vehicle’s Scotty is bringing is his 1955 Sunbeam Alpine MKIII–it’s one of only 21 in the entire world.

If you’d like to show off your car, bring it on down.

Inside, on the first floor, we’ll have an exhibit of vintage auto ads from the 1920s through the 1960s. Many of these were done in the art deco style and have become collectors items. We’ll also be looping Scotty’s video presentation on the influence of the art deco movement on cars and car ads.

Finally, a refreshment station and additional displays will be on the second floor.

What’s so great about “vintage” cars that were slower, less reliable, less comfortable, less safe, and more expensive than cars today?

“I’ll tell you”, says vintage car buff David “Scotty” Greenberger. “Each one is a slice of history—personal history and national history.”

He goes on to say that modern, mass produced vehicles just don’t have the same aesthetics. And while new cars depreciate in value each year, vintage autos often go up in value over time.

We’ll be following the latest guidance on social distancing and and face covering.

This event is sponsored by the Barryville Area Arts Association and made possible with the help of funding from the Richard L Snyder Fund, administered by the Greater Pike Community Foundation Event Coordinator: Robert Bradley
