HALL SPACE by Nonneta presents THE STORY OF A TRUE ROMANCE by Sharon Spiak. This is a retrospective art show where we will display and sell Sharon Spiak’s amazing paintings that she was creating for romance novels book covers. Some collectable book covers and her sketches will be for sale. There will be an artist’s talk about her process.
Sharon Spiak is a renowned romance novel cover artist with a career spanning decades.
Beginning her journey as a costume designer and fashion illustrator, she developed her unique style while apprenticing with the well known romance cover artist, Pino Daeni.
Her style caught the attention of publishers, who entrusted her with the task of creating these iconic historical romance book covers using oils on linen. Her work has graced countless titles by best selling authors of the genre including collaborations with the legendary “Fabio”.
Today’s romance novel covers are digitally rendered, making these vintage, painted historical covers collectable, unique works of art. Sharon’s art defines and epitomizes this genre as an iconic pop culture phenomena as seen in the most recent 25th anniversary publication of Flaunt Magazine, in which Sharon was commissioned to reimagine her original works using current young movie stars.
