Curvy Vases Workshop @ Sullivan Public

September 7, 2024 | 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

CURVY VASE WORKSHOP – $95
SATURDAY, SEPT 7TH
2-4PM

Sullivan Public founder, Jessie Lazar, will be hosting the next seeing in her series of hand-building workshops.

Jessie has been teaching ceramics for nearly 15 years at a range of NYC studios, most recently holding sold-out classes at Gasworks in Brooklyn. She loves to teach and brings new techniques to share at each class held at Sullivan Public. These workshops are geared to suit developing potters with experience as well as those new to the medium.

This next session will explore curvy vase shapes. We will begin by constructing a soft clay cylinder and then use new techniques for ballooning out curvature and tightening the vase’s neck. We will discuss how different shapes suit specific flowers and arrangements and delve into some discussion about design and visual balance.

*If you are registered for the raku workshop 9/21 and would like to make work for the firing on this day, you can sign up for that add-on at the raku class page

After class, your piece will be dried and fired and then Jessie will glaze your piece for you in the color of your choice. You bowls will be completed and ready for you to pick up in a few weeks. We are happy to ship for a few extra bucks, if you prefer.

*Workshop limited to 14 participants
