Join the Delaware Highlands Conservancy, Women and Their Woods graduates and guests, and the Northern Tier Hardwood Association for a Women’s Chainsaw Safety Class in Lake Ariel, PA. The all-day class will be taught by a certified Game of Logging instructor in partnership with the Northern Tier Hardwood Association and will focus on introducing participants to open-face felling and the development of techniques to safely use it. The topics covered will include personal protective equipment, chainsaw safety features, chainsaw reactive forces, bore cutting, pre-planning the fell, and understanding hinge wood strength. Participants will each get hands-on experience for felling trees.
Prior registration is required, as space is very limited.
Registration is $10 for Conservancy members or Women and Their Woods graduates; non-members are $20 each.
Participants should bring a bagged lunch to eat in the field, a camp/folding chair, and your own gas-powered chainsaw and safety equipment if you have it. Please wear a mask and dress for the weather.
